School Days, Wonderful School Days...

Well, my days of unemployment have finally come to an end.  I am returning to teaching this coming week.   YAY!

What will I miss now that I am returning to work?  First and foremost not spending endless hours creating new goodies, attending to my two online shops throughout the day and checking my email several times a day (OK, maybe I won't miss that so much).   But, I am super excited to be returning to teaching.

It's been a long year and a half looking  for a teaching position.  Because of cutbacks in the school districts, I sadly became unemployed.  After hundreds of applications/resumes, I am blessed to have a gotten an awesome position.   I have seriously missed being surrounded throughout the day with kids.  Their jokes, their unbelievable sense of humor, their innocence.  Having lunch with a table of Kinder kids is incredible!  Or sitting with 6th graders who just want to talk.

Do you all remember the dance "Soldier Boy" from a couple of years ago?  Well, let me tell you, Ms Vess learned that dance, oh yes I did!  Now mind you, I am no youngster, so it was a challenge!  *smile*  At the time I was a Librarian at K-8th grade school.  So, every afternoon four awesome 8th grade boys came into the Library and taught me the dance, insisting that Ms Vess would learn.

I attended all 7th/8th grade school dances as a chaperon.   And guess who was drug out onto the dance floor to show off her greatness doing the "soldier boy"?  Yuppers, the one and only Ms Vess.  HA!

My new position will be as a reading interventionist.  It is a Kinder-6th grade school.  I am excited to be working with students having a difficult time reading.  Reading is so important!  It opens an endless world of possibilities.  If you can read, anything is possible!

I will continue my Blog, I would miss all of you too much and I have to admit, I would miss my Blog.  It has become an old friend.  :)

I want to wish all of you the happiest and safest upcoming Holiday season!

It's Blooming Bookmarks! Hallelujah!

It's blooming bookmarks in my Etsy shop. So how did these bookmarks come about you ask?

As many of you have probably noticed, I waste no fabric.  I have baggies with scrap fabric left over from other sewing projects.  I didn't know what I was going to do with them, just knew I couldn't throw them out.

I am an avid reader, I was enjoying the collection of Twilight books when I lost my favorite bookmark.

Now no way was I about to go buy a new one, ooooohh no, so.... The birth of Blooming Bookmarks happened!

I love, love, love creating them.

The blooms are incredibly fun to make and putting them together is even better.  I can just let my imagination go.

The best part?  I get to enjoy the bookmark every time I pick up a book to read.

Can't get any better than that!

Now, I am off to enjoy a good book...

Cranberries and the Holiday Season...

Whenever I think of Fall and the Holiday Season, I think of pumpkins, leaves in wonderful colors, fireplaces and "cranberries". The inspiration for my most recent Artfire Collection came from yummy cranberries and the artisans who created gorgeous items using the color of cranberries. So, dig in and enjoy!

Awesome Craft Fair at Catlin Court....

I loved participating in this craft fair!  Although it was HOT, 107 degrees, it was so much fun!

The fair was held at Catlin Court in historic Glendale, AZ, wonderful antique and quaint specialty shops line both sides of the street.

Walking the street and venturing into the specialty shops is so surreal.  Strolling into the awesome shops that sell candles, is too die for, oh the aroma!  Or turn the clock back by visiting the vintage shops with their wonderful dresses, shoes, jewelry and other awesome accessories.

I was fortunate to have my booth in front of "Girlfriends Craft House", is that store name just too cute?!

A HUGE, gorgeous tree  shaded us throughout the day.  As you can see my beautiful granddaughter enjoying herself.

And my husband watched closely over the money.  Doesn't he look excited?  HA!

All the wonderful shoppers made for an awesome day!  I can't wait to do this again in December.  *smile*

I hear my poor neglected Etsy shop and ArtFire studio calling me.  Lots of goodies I haven't listed.   Soooooo.....

Have an awesome day!

ArtFire's Unbelievable Group Deal...

Over the past few weeks I have been moving items from my shop on Etsy to my studio on ArtFire. Little did I know at the time I made this decision that ArtFire was going to make an offer that is totally unbelievable.

Originally ArtFire offered the $5.95 monthly deal to 20,000 members. To our surprise, John (CEO) and Tony (COO) of ArtFire changed the criteria to "all" members who sign up by Oct 1, 2010 will definitely get the group deal. After that, memberships will be $9.95 a month, which isn't a bad deal, but doesn't $5.95 sound even better?

I am so excited to be in on this deal! They have also left Beta behind, WOOT! The front page of ArtFire has taken on a whole new look. It now features "Collections" created by ArtFire Artisans.

All the changes at ArtFire are just incredible and in perfect timing for the upcoming holiday season.

If you haven't checked out ArtFire for awhile, it is never too late.

So come on by and visit, love to see you there. *smile*

Dreams of Mermaids...

SanDesign, a seller on Etsy, sent me a convo today to share with me her newest Treasury. Well, after seeing it, I just knew where I was going next.  Yuppers, right here to my Blog so that I could share it with all of you.  It is just too gorgeous to keep it a secret.

If you love "mermaids", you won't be disappointed.  Without further adieu, here it is!

Fall and the Holiday Season...

WOW, where did the summer go?!?  Mid-September already, fall is upon us next week and ghoulish Halloween will be here before we know it!

Then it's Thanksgiving and and and, then it's Christmas.

Anyone else feeling like our days are just speeding by?

On Monday I paid a visit to Michaels for much needed supplies and what greeted me at the door?  Not Halloween or Fall items, but Christmas decorations.  YIKES!

But, I must admit that Fall is my "favorite" time of the year.  Not that Arizona experiences it, at least here in the Valley we don't.

I always tease that we go from brown to brown.  I am so envious of those who have the awesome beauty of fall colors bestowed upon them.  I can only imagine how gorgeous the trees must be in their flaming red and orange colors.

Do you have photos that show off the spectacular colors of the Fall season?  I would love to see them!  Drop me a comment with a link so that I can ooh and ahh.  :)

Have a super day!

Birthday Celebrated with Lilies...

(To see these beauties up close & personal, click on the photo)

Yesterday I celebrated another year older, yikes!  But how could I regret it when my daughter gave me these lovelies?

They are without a doubt "breathtaking"!

When I first saw them my reaction was they were made of wax.  They are incredible!  The richest shades of orange.  And oh the aroma!  To die for!

Thank you my dear daughter, you made my day special!

Have a simply wonderful day everyone!
